Possible Ancestry of Certain 2008 Presidential Candidates

I found a site that lists the ancestry of certain US politial figures. Below are links to genealogies of the three Presidential front runners:

* Hilary Clinton

* Barach Obama

* John McCain

... and here is a possible relationship between Barach Obama and John McCain.

I don't know how accurate these are. However, at least the author of these genealogies included the sources so that you may check them out yourself.

Greetings Robert,

I was surfing the Internet and by chance stumbled upon your blog. I found your blog fasinating and have signed up for your blog list.

My name is Robert Carl Montoya (I go by Carl) and my great grandmother was Margarita Bourguignon, oldest daughter and child of Phillip and Maria Gonzales. So I guess we are distant cousins on the Bourguignon side.

Margarita married Donaciano Montoya and his Father-in-law helped him set up a mercantile in Las Palomas in Sierra County (just south of T or C). This is where they raised their family of seven children (the 8th died as an infant).

My Montoya side came from the Tome/Valencia area although the 1860 census showed my grandfather and family, Jose Maria Montoya, living in Albuquerque during the 1860 census. My Mother is a Chavez and on both sides of the family I have a Tafoya connection. I also have Armijo, Torres and Gonzalez connections among the many families.

I enjoy genealogy immensely but with my job I have little time to pursue this hobby--maybe one day when I retire. I worked for the U.S. Government in Washington DC for many years and recently moved to the Philadelphia area as a Fed. I'm a former Foreign Service Officer and lived in London, England for five years. I was actually born in T or C, NM but was raised in the Phoenix, AZ area. I still have a large core of Montoya family members in T or C, which I am very close to.

Well back to work. I'm looking forward to your blogs and learning more about our New Mexico roots.

Best,

Carl Montoya
